On 12 August 2026, a near-total solar eclipse will be visible from Lincoln.
The University will host a free public viewing event for the near-total solar eclipse on Wednesday 12 August 2026, taking place from 6:00pm – 8:00pm on the grass beside Delph Pond, outside the Isaac Newton Building.
The event is particularly significant because it will be the last opportunity until 2081 to witness a solar eclipse exceeding 90% coverage from the UK.
Staff from the Schools of Natural Sciences and Engineering and Physical Sciences will help members of the public experience the eclipse safely.
The event will also provide educational information about the eclipse and appropriate viewing techniques.
Admission: Free and open to all.
